Technical Account Manager — Enterprise Solutions
Overview
The Technical Account Manager (TAM) is the owner of operational health and post-launch technical delivery for a portfolio of enterprise retailers. You will monitor performance, troubleshoot complex issues across Instacart and partner systems, drive root-cause resolution, and build proactive strategies that measurably improve product outcomes. You sit at the intersection of R&D, account teams, and retailer technical stakeholders — translating between all three to keep the solution running well and getting better.
About The Job
● You will own the end-to-end technical health of a portfolio of enterprise retail partners, monitoring well-defined metrics and intervening before issues become escalations
● You will investigate and drive closure on adverse technical issues — identifying root causes across Instacart platform, partner integrations, and real-world operational factors
● You will develop deep expertise in Instacart's enterprise products and platform internals: how they work, where they break, and what levers exist to improve outcomes
● You will build and maintain thorough knowledge of each portfolio retailer's integration architecture, vendor ecosystem, and business context
● You will serve as the technical liaison between R&D, ETS, Solution Architecture, CSM, and retailer engineering teams, coordinating across all parties to effect resolutions
● You will leverage observability tools, data warehousing, and analytics to build dashboards, monitors, and reports that arm cross-functional teams with actionable insight
● You will develop and execute proactive strategies — learning from resolved issues to anticipate, prevent, and quantifiably reduce adverse outcomes over time
● You will communicate complex technical problems with precision and clarity to mixed technical and business audiences, both internal and client-facing
About You
Minimum Qualifications
● You have 5+ years of experience in a technical account management, solutions engineering, or technical consulting role, ideally in SaaS or platform environments
● You have strong fundamentals in integration architectures: REST APIs, authentication protocols, ETL, message queues, async patterns, error handling, and failure recovery
● You have hands-on experience with logging, monitoring, and observability tooling — and
the ability to build complex dashboards and custom metrics
● You have demonstrated ability to troubleshoot across distributed systems, working from symptoms to root cause across multiple teams and codebases
● You have experience managing complex enterprise accounts across multiple stakeholder points of contact, with high partner satisfaction
● You are proficient in SQL or capable of using AI tools to build datasets and queries for analysis
● You have a track record of translating technical findings into clear, actionable narratives for both engineering and business audiences
Preferred Qualifications
● Deep domain expertise in at least one area of enterprise architecture: loyalty, identity, payments, point of sale, or catalog systems
● Familiarity with SaaS/cloud architectures: multi-tenancy, containerization, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code
● Understanding of the grocery retail or e-commerce ecosystem, including in-store operations and last-mile fulfillment
● Experience working with or within a platform company's partner/integration ecosystem
● Exposure to protobuf/gRPC in addition to REST
