Project Manager III - Salesforce Field Service Management
Job#: 3042903
Job Description:
Location: Maryland Heights, MO
Duration: Contract
Overview
We are seeking a seasoned IT Project Manager to lead complex, cross-functional technology initiatives from concept through delivery. In this role, you will orchestrate work across internal IT and business teams, external implementation vendors, and executive stakeholders to deliver measurable business outcomes on time and on budget. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of hands-on project management experience and deep, recent expertise delivering Salesforce solutions - with a particular focus on Salesforce Field Service Management.
You will own the full project lifecycle: shaping scope and business cases, managing budgets and vendor contracts, driving delivery through Agile and hybrid methodologies, and communicating status and risk to senior leadership. This is a high-visibility role for a proven leader who thrives in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
· Lead the end-to-end delivery of medium-to-large IT projects, from initiation and planning through execution, deployment, and closure.
· Develop and maintain integrated project plans, schedules, and roadmaps, managing scope, timeline, cost, quality, and risk across concurrent workstreams.
· Apply Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies as appropriate to the initiative.
Cross-Functional Coordination
· Coordinate cross-functional IT and business teams - engineering, QA, architecture, operations, product, and business stakeholders - to align on objectives, dependencies, and deliverables.
· Serve as the central point of contact bridging technical teams and business sponsors, translating business needs into actionable technical plans.
Vendor & Partner Management
· Manage external implementation vendors and system integrators, including statement of work (SOW) definition, deliverable acceptance, resource oversight, and performance management.
· Negotiate and monitor vendor contracts, hold partners accountable to milestones, and manage escalations.
Budget & Financial Management
· Own project budgets: build cost estimates and business cases, track actuals against forecast, manage capital and operating expenses, and report variances to leadership.
· Manage purchase orders, invoicing, and financial reconciliation in partnership with finance and procurement.
Salesforce Field Service Delivery
· Lead the planning and delivery of Salesforce implementations, with emphasis on Salesforce Field Service (scheduling, dispatch, mobile workforce, work orders, service appointments).
· Partner with Salesforce architects, admins, and developers to manage releases, integrations, data migration, and org governance.
· Coordinate field service process design across dispatch, scheduling optimization, mobile enablement, and technician workflows.
Stakeholder Communication & Governance
· Deliver clear, concise status reporting, dashboards, and executive readouts to senior leadership and steering committees.
· Establish and enforce project governance, change control, and RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) management.
· Proactively identify, escalate, and mitigate risks and issues before they impact delivery.
Required Qualifications & Experience
· 10+ years of IT project management experience delivering technology projects with cross-functional IT and business teams.
· 3+ years of experience managing projects built on Salesforce technology, with demonstrable experience delivering Salesforce Field Service solutions.
· Proven experience managing external implementation vendors and system integrators, including contract and SOW management.
· Demonstrated budget management experience, including business case development, forecasting, and financial tracking for projects.
· Strong command of Agile/Scrum and hybrid delivery methodologies and the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
· Proficiency with project and work management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Smartsheet).
· Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and executive-facing presentation skills.
· Strong risk management, negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational leadership abilities.
· Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
· PMP, PMI-ACP, or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification.
· Salesforce certifications such as Salesforce Administrator, Field Service Consultant, or Salesforce Certified Associate.
· Experience in telecommunications, utilities, field operations, or a service-heavy industry.
· Experience integrating Salesforce with enterprise systems (ERP, billing, CRM, workforce management).
· Familiarity with data migration, integration platforms (e.g., MuleSoft), and DevOps/release management for Salesforce.
Core Competencies
· Leadership: Guides matrixed teams without direct authority; builds alignment and accountability.
· Business Acumen: Connects technical delivery to business value and financial outcomes.
· Communication: Tailors messaging from technician-level detail to executive summary.
· Adaptability: Manages ambiguity and competing priorities across concurrent projects.
· Results Orientation: Drives delivery to measurable outcomes on scope, schedule, and budget.
Reporting & Structure
· Reports to: Director, Portfolio / Program Management.
· Collaborates with: IT engineering and architecture, business sponsors, Salesforce delivery teams, external vendors, PMO, finance, and procurement.
