Title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer – CMDB Discovery
Location: Malver, PA; Charlotte, NC; Plano, TX or Phoenix, AZ (3 days’ on-site/hybrid)
As a Senior CMDB Infrastructure Engineer, you will serve as the technical lead for enterprise asset discovery, CMDB enrichment, and ServiceNow Discovery engineering. This role is responsible for designing and implementing discovery solutions that improve visibility across cloud and on-premises environments while ensuring accurate configuration and relationship data within the CMDB.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead Discovery & CMDB Integration: Design, implement, and optimize ServiceNow Discovery capabilities to identify, collect, and maintain accurate infrastructure, application, cloud, and AI asset data within the CMDB.
- Drive CMDB Enrichment & Data Quality: Enhance CMDB data through integration of multiple enterprise data sources, ensuring asset relationships, dependencies, and configuration details are accurate and actionable.
- Expand Cloud Asset Visibility: Develop and maintain discovery solutions for AWS, Azure, and GCP environments, improving visibility of cloud infrastructure, services, and applications.
- Engineer Enterprise Integrations: Build and support integrations between ServiceNow and infrastructure management platforms, asset management tools, endpoint management solutions, and cloud services.
- Support AI & Emerging Technologies: Partner with technology teams to discover, track, and govern AI-related assets and services as part of the enterprise CMDB strategy.
- Enable Security & Vulnerability Initiatives: Improve asset inventory accuracy and discovery coverage to support vulnerability management, risk reduction, and security remediation efforts.
- Provide Advanced Technical Leadership: Act as the Tier 3 escalation point for complex discovery, CMDB, and integration challenges while mentoring team members and promoting technical best practices.
- Drive Infrastructure Innovation: Evaluate and implement new discovery methods, automation opportunities, and custom solutions that improve operational effectiveness and data quality.
What We're Looking For
Required Experience
- 8+ years of infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, platform engineering, or related experience.
- Strong experience implementing and supporting ServiceNow Discovery, CMDB, and associated infrastructure management processes.
- Proven success engineering solutions and integrations rather than performing solely administrative tasks.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform:
- AWS (preferred)
- Azure
- GCP
- Experience discovering, inventorying, and managing infrastructure across both cloud and on-premises environments.
Technical Expertise
- Deep understanding of CMDB architecture, service mapping, configuration management, and automated asset discovery.
- Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, cloud networking, and cloud-native services.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewall concepts, and related infrastructure technologies.
- Working knowledge of Windows and Linux systems administration and infrastructure services.
- Experience designing and supporting integrations between enterprise platforms and infrastructure tools.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management processes and the role CMDB data plays in security operations.
Certifications
- ServiceNow Certification preferred
- ITIL Certification preferred
- Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP) are highly desirable
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with endpoint and asset management platforms such as JAMF, Microsoft SCCM/MECM, or similar technologies.
- Experience with application development, scripting, automation, or building custom ServiceNow applications.
- Knowledge of AI asset governance, AI infrastructure, or emerging technology discovery capabilities.
- Experience with enterprise-scale IT service management environments.
