Mid-level (AI) Java Developer

Hybrid in Dallas, TX or Austin, TX


You will work with technical and business partners to design and maintain optimal programming and environment solutions. Job activities will involve researching , developing solutions and supporting the tools and processes to gather detailed user requirements, architecting/developing a solution, and driving strategic planning discussions with technical, business, and client stakeholders.

What you are Responsible For:

• Research and development of (functional and technical specifications documents) production and test environments, architecture/design/develop solutions

• Develop plans for proof of concept and validation of technology/solutions

• Develop and support the tools and processes to gather detailed user requirements

• Participate in strategic planning discussions with technical, business, and client stakeholders

• Identify gaps in processes and services across environments

• Review programming and environment changes and raise awareness for potential impacts

• Effective and efficient utilization of programming tools

• Architect and develop effective solutions that are in line with the organization's vision

• Actively participate in product design and development sessions

• Provide direction to less experienced Programmer/Analysts

• Identify gaps in processes and services across production and test environments

• Develop architectural diagrams/documents, develop software codes and automated test scripts

• Write efficient, easy to follow technical documentation

• Act as liaison between technical and non-technical counterparts

• Uses AI assistance for common dev tasks (code suggestions, test generation, review support, automation scripts, troubleshooting) with clear ownership for correctness and quality.

• Applies GenAI in ways that reduce context switching and accelerate delivery across typical workflows (not limited to writing new code).

• Demonstrates practical familiarity with GitHub Copilot and/or Claude Code within IDE/CLI-style workflows.

• Working knowledge of agentic workflows, spec-driven development (translating low-level design artifacts such as class structures, API contracts, and data models into structured specs that guide AI-assisted implementation), and custom instructions and prompt engineering, with the ability to establish team-level practices for effective AI-assisted development.

What you have:

Required:

• 3+ years of experience with the following: Java, Spring framework, cloud development, and Web Services (REST, SOAP) supporting high volume transactions in a highly available environment

• Demonstrated hands-on experience with, GenAI coding assistants used across day-to-day engineering workflows in the SDLC—implementation, refactoring, unit testing, regression support, code reviews, scripting/automation, troubleshooting, and documentation—while applying engineering judgment and validation.

• Practical familiarity with tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code is expected.

• 2+ years Prior experience with ETL jobs or data pipeline and messaging frameworks

• 1+ years of experience with continuous build process using Bamboo, Bitbucket/Git, or similar tools

• 1+ years of experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), or AWS or GCP.

• 1+ years’ experience working with distributed databases like MongoDB, Aerospike, Yugabyte, PostgreSQL.

• Demonstrated or hands-on experience with, GenAI coding assistants used across day-to-day engineering workflows

• Practical familiarity with AI tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code is expected.

Preferred:

• 1+ years Prior experience in IT Transformations and system modernization initiatives from legacy to distributed platforms, i.e., Mainframe Cobol apps/DB2 to Java apps/SQL or MongoDB

• Knowledge of Agile methodology and experience in an Agile working environment

• Experience with the Atlassian tool stack (JIRA et alia)

• Experience with .NET framework and programming tools (Visual Studio) and C#

• Experience in RabbitMQ

• Experience in Financial Services industry

• Experience in Test Driven Development

• Ability to analyze and solve problems creatively

• Ability to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives

• Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including offshore teams and manage offshore development activities

• Ability to effectively engage subject matter experts and understand technical topics

• Ability to work effectively with technical and business experts

• Willingness and ability to learn all aspects of test data management and associated tools

• Ability to research and document production and test environments along with architecture and design work

• Proficient in developing Visio diagrams, architectural and design documentations, functional and technical specifications, automated test proce
