Project Manager - Business Separation / Divestiture (M&A)

Client: Top 5 Bank

Duration: 12 month rolling contract

Work Location: Hybrid 2-3 days/week, Downtown Toronto

Hours: 37.5 hr/week; Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

What does the LOB do?
  • Enterprise Program Management supporting strategic divestiture and business separation initiatives.
  • Responsible for executing large-scale business transformations, acquisitions, divestitures, and operational carve-outs across North America.
  • Currently supporting the separation of a major Transportation & Vendor Finance business following a significant corporate transaction.
Summary:

The Project Manager will support a large-scale business separation initiative and be responsible for driving execution across multiple workstreams, including business operations, reporting, risk, compliance, technology, and stakeholder management. This individual will partner with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to manage dependencies, coordinate separation activities, and ensure successful delivery of key program milestones.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead the planning and execution of divestiture and business separation activities across multiple business and technology workstreams.

• Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, action items, and dependency trackers.

• Coordinate requirements gathering sessions with business stakeholders and subject matter experts.

• Drive stakeholder alignment and facilitate working sessions across operations, technology, finance, risk, legal, and compliance teams.

• Monitor project health and proactively identify, escalate, and mitigate risks and issues.

• Support operational readiness, transition planning, and day-one execution activities.

• Coordinate reporting, governance, and status updates for senior leadership and steering committees.

• Ensure project deliverables are completed on time and aligned with business objectives.

• Manage cross-functional dependencies to support successful business separation outcomes.

• Produce executive-level presentations, project reporting, and meeting materials.

Must Have Requirements:

• 7+ years of Project Management experience leading complex enterprise initiatives.

• Experience supporting M&A, divestitures, carve-outs, business separations, or post-merger integration programs.

• Prior experience within Banking, Financial Services, Capital Markets, or other highly regulated environments.

• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across multiple business units.

• Demonstrated experience managing project plans, budgets, timelines, risks, issues, and dependencies.

• Experience facilitating requirements gathering and business workshops.

• Strong executive communication and presentation skills.

• Experience with MS Project, Jira, Confluence, or similar project management tools.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have:

• Experience supporting business separation or carve-out activities following a divestiture.

• Transportation Finance, Vendor Finance, Commercial Banking, or Lending experience.

• PMP, Agile, Scrum, or equivalent project management certification.

• Experience working alongside large consulting firms (Deloitte, EY, PwC, KPMG, Accenture, etc.).

• Experience building executive dashboards, steering committee materials, and transformation reporting.

Apex pay scales are determined by role, experience, skill set, and location. For this new position, the estimated hourly range is provided below as a guideline; however, total compensation may vary based on individual circumstances.
