SITUATION
Our client faced the challenge of developing a comprehensive analytics strategy to serve a diverse range of stakeholders. These stakeholders, spanning executive and operational roles, provide essential support in the domains of claims, risk, and quality. The client's reliance on multiple applications, workflows and databases for their reporting solutions was inadequate for delivering the actionable insights crucial for informed decision-making. Recognizing the need for a transformative approach, our client engaged Everforth Apex to assess current processes and create a solution that would lead them to achieve their strategic and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) program performance goals.

Everforth Apex employed a 360-degree and inclusive assessment strategy at the executive, management, and individual contributor levels. The three-part inclusive assessment strategy included: analysis to identify opportunities for enhancing their data analytics strategy; deeper dive workshops to chart quick wins and long-term recommendations; and final deliverables to guide a flexible roadmap and address identified opportunities. Everforth Apex deployed a team, including a practice director, an architect, a former doctor serving as project manager and an experienced medical data product owner. Our team assessed the people, processes, and technologies currently being used to create and deliver insights. Additionally, Everforth Apex profiled the current data value chain from source to delivery, encompassing the enterprise data warehouse and data service infrastructure. Findings were summarized for executive review and for cross-functional workshops to deepen the recommendations and initiate the solution process.
Everforth Apex provided the engagement sponsor and their partners with multiple data platform & analytics modernization scenarios and roadmaps, detailing technology and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) considerations spanning Snowflake, Azure, Power BI premium, and more. Our team recommended a data product strategy and facilitated a full-day executive workshop with relevant stakeholders to create a data product roadmap and implementation plan. Finally, our team enabled the client's analytics team with Power BI templates, training, and best practices to enhance adoption and performance.
RESULT
Once applied, our data product strategy effectively supported the analytics our client was accountable for. Everforth Apex's recommendations empowered our client to reduce their insights and dashboard development time from over 13 weeks to just a few weeks and their dashboard load times from up to 10 minutes to under one minute. The project was a resounding success, leading the client to engage Everforth Apex for a second time to implement the provider 360 data product and analytics roadmap. The client has since successfully executed several of Everforth Apex's recommendations, including allocating a director-level position to ensure the team's continued upskilling and growth, and allocating budget to implement a cloud-based Power BI environment.
