The Senior Azure Cloud Architect provides hands-on solution architecture leadership with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure while maintaining working knowledge of AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role is responsible for designing, reviewing, and remediating cloud architectures while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, security requirements, and governance practices.
The architect will support cloud architecture reviews, landing zone design, shared services, and enterprise cloud adoption initiatives across a multi-cloud environment.
- Lead the design, review, and remediation of Azure-based cloud architectures, landing zones, and shared services.
- Provide architectural guidance across multi-cloud environments, with Azure serving as the primary area of expertise.
- Define and enforce architecture patterns related to identity, networking, security, governance, and operational excellence.
- Translate enterprise standards into scalable, repeatable cloud solutions.
- Conduct evidence-based tradeoff analysis across cost, resiliency, performance, security, and operability.
- Participate in and facilitate Technical Review Boards (TRBs) and Cloud Architecture Review Boards (CARBs).
- Review and challenge solution designs across Azure, AWS, and GCP environments to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, security, DevOps, and platform teams on cloud modernization initiatives.
- Support compliance, governance, and risk management requirements by translating business and regulatory requirements into actionable cloud architectures.
- 10+ years of IT infrastructure, cloud, or solution architecture experience.
- 5+ years designing and implementing Azure cloud solutions at enterprise scale.
- Deep expertise with:
- Azure Landing Zones
- Azure Virtual Network (VNet) Architecture
- Azure Identity and Access Management (Entra ID/Azure AD)
- Azure Governance and Policy
- Azure Security Services
- Azure Compute, Storage, and Networking
- Working knowledge of AWS and GCP architecture principles.
- Strong understanding of cloud governance, security, networking, and architecture review processes.
- Experience supporting architecture governance functions such as TRBs and design reviews.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (preferred)
- AWS Solutions Architect certification and/or Google Professional Cloud Architect certification
- Experience operating within large enterprise Cloud Centers of Excellence (CCOE)
- Exposure to FedRAMP, NIST, CMMC, or regulated environments
