A DoD contractor with a global workforce across multiple states and countries, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to support its corporate team in Virginia Beach, VA. This role is ideal for a hands-on HR generalist who thrives in a dynamic environment and is confident managing the full spectrum of HR responsibilities independently.
The successful candidate will be a proactive self-starter with the expertise to operate with minimal supervision, introduce process improvements, and drive operational efficiency. This position oversees the end-to-end HR function and requires the ability to manage a wide range of tasks varying in scope and complexity.
- Oversee all HR lifecycle activities including onboarding, compensation administration, employee separations, and recordkeeping for both domestic and OCONUS employees
- Manage employee benefits programs, including plan selection, broker coordination, annual open enrollment, and administration of FSA and HSA plans
- Administer Workers Compensation, Longshore Act, and Defense Base Act coverages; coordinate with insurance brokers and ensure compliance with annual audit requirements
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the company’s 401(k) plan and manage the annual 5500 audit process
- Lead employee relations efforts, including performance management oversight, investigations, and follow-up actions
- Support and coordinate biweekly payroll administration; manage court- and government-mandated withholdings; act as the liaison between employees and the payroll provider
- Administer and track all mandatory employee training required by the Federal Government for contracted services
- Ensure compliance with HR-related FAR requirements and maintain alignment with contractual obligations
- Bachelor’s degree required
- SPHR or PHR certification required
- 15+ years of recent senior-level HR generalist experience supporting a small to midsize organization; at least 10 years with a government contractor strongly preferred
- 5+ years of experience managing company benefit plans, including 401(k) and workers compensation programs
- Experience managing OCONUS employment
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with Deltek Talent Management (ATS) and/or Deltek Costpoint preferred
