Job#: 3030245
Job Description:
Data Consultant (End-to-End ETL & Visualization)
Client: Big 5 Bank
Location: Hybrid Toronto, Ontario-
Terms: 6 Month Contract, Strong possibility of extension based on project budget & candidate performance.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. 37.5 hours per week.
Role Overview
We are seeking a versatile Data Consultant to bridge the gap between complex data engineering and executive decision-making. In this role, you will be responsible for the full data lifecycle—from designing robust ETL pipelines in Databricks to crafting compelling, high-impact stories through Power BI.
The ideal candidate doesn't just "move data"; they understand the business context and can translate technical architecture into actionable insights for senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End ETL Orchestration: Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines. You will take ownership of the "Data Ingestion" process, moving data from legacy warehouses and external sources into unified environments.
- Databricks Development: Leverage Databricks to transform raw, unstructured data into clean, analysis-ready datasets. You will be responsible for optimizing performance and ensuring data integrity across the pipeline.
- Data Storytelling: Go beyond basic reporting. You will use Power BI to create intuitive dashboards that highlight trends, risks, and opportunities, helping stakeholders "see" the story behind the numbers.
- Business Alignment: Work closely with Product Owners and Analytics teams to understand campaign requirements and ensure that technical outputs align with the 2030 strategic vision.
- Process In-Housing: Contribute to the strategic initiative of moving external analytics processes in-house to reduce time-to-market and improve data agility.
Qualifications & Technical Skills
- ETL Expertise: Deep professional experience with ETL/ELT frameworks and data warehousing principles.
- Databricks Mastery: Proven ability to develop and optimize notebooks and workflows within the Databricks environment.
- Advanced Power BI: Expert-level skills in Power BI, including DAX, data modeling, and advanced visualization techniques.
- SQL Proficiency: Strong SQL skills for data querying, manipulation, and validation.
- Analytical Mindset: The ability to look at a data set and identify the "Relevance" (the why behind the numbers) for a business audience.
- Communication: Exceptional soft skills with the ability to "translate" technical findings for non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
- Experience within the Banking or Financial Services sector (specifically Business Banking or Marketing Analytics).
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Experience with "In-housing" projects or migrating legacy data processes to modern cloud stacks.
