This role supports the Legal / Contract Services function for a reinsurance organization, focusing on the drafting, review, documentation, and governance of reinsurance treaties and amendments. The position plays a key role in ensuring contractual accuracy, regulatory alignment, and reliable access to treaty information across the business.
- Drafting and reviewing reinsurance treaties, amendments, and related documentation to ensure alignment with negotiated terms
- Interpreting complex contract language and identifying gaps, inconsistencies, or risks
- Partnering with legal, underwriting, finance, accounting, and operations teams to confirm treaty clarity and usability
- Maintaining internal treaty databases and document repositories with up‑to‑date and accurate information
- Producing routine and ad‑hoc treaty reporting for internal stakeholders
- Responding to audit requests and treaty confirmation inquiries from external parties
- Supporting cross‑functional projects tied to treaty documentation, data accuracy, and process improvements
- High‑visibility role within legal and reinsurance operations
- Significant ownership over treaty documentation, not just review or administration
- Exposure to both assumed and retroceded reinsurance agreements
- Opportunity to work cross‑functionally with underwriting, finance, accounting, and compliance teams
- Stable, long‑term position with minimal required travel (<5%)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Legal Studies, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- 5+ years of experience in insurance, reinsurance, or legal environments
- Strong understanding of contract provisions and ability to interpret complex treaty language
- Hands‑on experience drafting or reviewing contracts and amendments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Prior reinsurance treaty experience (assumed and/or retro)
- Experience working within legal or contract services teams
- Professional insurance, reinsurance, or legal designations
- Advanced Excel or database/reporting experience
- Prior exposure to audits or regulatory reviews
