Location: Toronto, ON

Work Model: Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)

Engagement Type: Contract

Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Technology Project Manager to support a Payments Modernization initiative within a large Canadian banking environment. This is a contract-only role requiring strong end-to-end project delivery experience, critical thinking skills, and the ability to manage complex, interconnected technology initiatives.

The PM will manage projects with a scope of up to $3+ million, operating primarily in a waterfall delivery model with agile methodologies used where appropriate, aligned to established PMO standards.

Key Responsibilities

·      Lead end-to-end delivery of technology projects from initiation through closure

·      Manage project financials, including cost, scope, timelines, and forecasting

·      Coordinate resources and dependencies across multiple connected initiatives

·      Drive risk, issue, and change management

·      Communicate clearly and effectively with senior stakeholders and delivery teams

·      Ensure adherence to PMO governance, SDLC processes, and controls

·      Provide hands-on leadership (not oversight-only) across all project phases

Must-Have Qualifications

·      8+ years of Project Management experience in large banking or financial services environments

·      Payments domain experience (modernization, transformation, or large-scale change)

·      Technology Project Management background

·      Cloud project experience, preferably AWS (certifications not required)

·      Proven hands-on delivery experience managing projects end-to-end

·      Strong critical thinking and decision-making ability

·      Excellent stakeholder communication and management skills

·      Solid understanding of the SDLC and structured PMO environments

Nice-to-Haves

·      Experience working on small-to-mid sized projects with complex integrations

·      Exposure to both waterfall and agile methodologies

·      PMP or similar certification

Additional Notes

·      No coding required; this is a process- and delivery-focused PM role

·      Candidates must demonstrate real delivery ownership, not “PMO-only” or oversight roles

·      Strong screening is required; only high-quality, role-aligned PMs will be considered
