Job Title: Software Engineer 4 / Hadoop (HPE MapR) Engineer
Location: Irving, TX / Phoenix, AZ / Charlotte, NC – Hybrid (3 days onsite)
Contract Length: 12 months
Pay Rate: $69 - $74
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering or big data platform engineering with Hadoop (HPE MapR preferred)
- Strong expertise in distributed systems, cluster computing, and Linux/Unix administration
- Proficiency in programming/scripting (Python, Java, Scala, or Bash) with experience supporting production-scale environments
- Experience with Apache Spark and batch/stream processing frameworks
- Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk)
- Experience with other Hadoop distributions (Cloudera, Hortonworks)
- Expertise in high-availability enterprise cluster operations
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning experience
In this contingent resource assignment, you may: Consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning for Software Engineering. Review and analyze complex multi-faceted, larger scale or longer-term Software Engineering challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors. Contribute to the resolution of complex and multi-faceted situations requiring solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements that meet deliverables. Strategically collaborate and consult with client personnel.
- Design, implement, and maintain large-scale distributed data platforms using HPE MapR and Hadoop
- Support, optimize, and enhance MapR-based ecosystems for performance, scalability, and reliability
- Monitor system performance and proactively troubleshoot production issues
- Ensure high availability and operational stability of enterprise clusters
- Work with Apache Spark for large-scale data processing workloads
- Perform Linux/Unix system administration and cluster management
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools (Python, Java, Scala, Bash)
- Utilize monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk) to track cluster health and performance
- Analyze and resolve complex distributed system issues across environments
- Collaborate with engineering and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable solutions
- Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and governance standards
- Contribute to ongoing improvements of data platform infrastructure and processes
