Change Governance Consultant
Large Banking Client
Hybrid schedule, 3x/week onsite in Charlotte, NC / Irving, TX
12+ month contract, W2 basis
Required Skills/Experience:
- Background in Change Management, specifically governance-focused
- Strong task and portfolio management skills
- Ability to manage multiple change records & stakeholders simultaneously
- Banking/Financial Services industry experience
- Excellent relationship building/management skills
- Will partner directly with diverse stakeholders and change owners heavily
- Strong task execution and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail, especially around documentation and compliance
- Ability to think quickly and manage high-pressure discussions (particularly in risk and compliance forums)
- Comfort operating in a governance-focused, policy-driven environment
- Confidence in facilitating large group meetings (up to ~50 participants)
- Familiarity with concepts such as legal, risk, controls, and compliance reviews
Desired Skills/Experience (not required):
- Merchant Services exposure/experience
Core Responsibilities
· This is a change governance role, not a traditional change manager or project owner – more focused on change governance and process adherence.
· The primary responsibility is managing a portfolio of change requests and overseeing change governance – ensuring change requests follow policy, process steps, and required approvals.
- The role manages a portfolio of ~50 change records at various stages. Responsible for ensuring changes move through all required tollgates.
- Ensure proper documentation is in place and update records throughout the lifecycle.
- Facilitate key forums and meetings, including:
- Weekly change intake sessions
- Impact assessment forums
- Leadership review sessions
- Legal, Risk, Compliance, and Controls (LRCC) discussions
- **Heavy emphasis on relationship building with change owners. Role involves frequent interaction with senior leadership (SLT).
- Meet with change owners to understand their objectives. Guide stakeholders through required lifecycle steps, timelines, and deliverables. Hold them accountable.
- Coordinate scheduling and preparation for presentations and approvals.
- Ensure all required impacts (customer, employee, risk, AML, etc.) are documented.
- Track delays, capture reasons, and provide transparency into status.
- Support final readiness and sign-off prior to implementation.
- Close out change records upon completion.
