Senior Scrum Master

Everforth - Apex Systems is a global IT services provider, and our Staffing  practice has an opening in the Financial Industry for a Scrum Master with strong experience in SAFE, Commerical banking experience along with a proactive and inquisitive side to start looking for trends or areas of improvement to place at our client, a large Canadian Bank.

Start date: ASAP.

Location: Toronto/ hybrid

In office: Monday, Tuesday and the 4thFriday of each month

Senior Scrum Master – Enterprise Banking Platform (SAFe)

Overview

·      Apex Systems is seeking a Senior Scrum Master to support a large-scale corporate and commercial banking platform transformation for a leading Canadian financial institution. This initiative focuses on expanding banking capabilities into the U.S. market, leveraging a modern vendor platform and integrating with a complex ecosystem of enterprise systems.

·      This is a high-impact role within a multi-workstream SAFe delivery environment, ideal for a Scrum Master with deep experience in regulated industries (banking preferred) and a pragmatic, outcome-driven approach to Agile delivery.

Key Responsibilities

·      Facilitate Agile ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Stand-ups, Reviews, Retrospectives) across 1–2 delivery pods

·      Act as a servant leader across cross-functional teams within a SAFe framework

·      Proactively identify and remove blockers across teams, integrations, and dependencies

·      Drive continuous improvement beyond tooling (Jira), focusing on delivery outcomes and team effectiveness

·      Partner with Product Owners, Architects, and Program Leadership to align on priorities and delivery milestones

·      Support coordination across multiple workstreams, including:

o  Channel (client experience, onboarding, UI)

o  Deposits (treasury, liquidity management)

o  Payments (SWIFT, ACH, orchestration)

o  Back Office (reporting, batch processing)

·      Enable collaboration across 30–40 integrated enterprise systems, including AML, fraud, risk, and general ledger platforms

·      Ensure teams demonstrate measurable progress during a long build phase (~10 months pre-production)

Required Qualifications

·      5–8+ years of experience as a Scrum Master in enterprise environments

·      Strong experience in banking or highly regulated industries

·      Proven experience delivering within SAFe or scaled Agile frameworks

·      Demonstrated ability to manage multiple teams/pods in complex programs

·      Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and business teams

·      Experience navigating large-scale system integrations and dependencies

Preferred Qualifications

·      Recent experience with a major bank

·      Exposure to commercial or corporate banking platforms (deposits, payments, treasury)

·      Experience working with vendor platforms (e.g., Intellect Design, Finacle, or similar)

·      Ability to balance Agile best practices with pragmatic delivery in long build cycles

Team & Environment

·      Part of a 4-workstream program supporting U.S. expansion

·      5 Agile pods supported by Scrum Masters (team structure evolving)

·      Collaboration with senior leadership including Agile Leads and Development Directors

·      Highly integrated ecosystem requiring cross-team coordination

·      Dependencies are proactively managed with minimal escalation

·      Agile practices are applied effectively (not dogmatically)

·      Clear visibility into progress during a long pre-production build phase
