508 Compliance Tester

Location: Oxon Hill, Maryland (Hybrid)

 
Role Overview

We are seeking a 508 Compliance Tester to join our team. This position is an application quality assurance role with a specialization in accessibility. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing web applications and content for Section 508 compliance, ensuring usability for all users and alignment with federal standards. You will work within a development team to support existing web applications and redesign efforts, partnering with development teams to validate fixes and ensure readiness for release.

 
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Section 508 compliance tests on web products and content, including PDFs.
  • Build and execute test plans, test cases, and scripts for functional, regression, and accessibility testing.
  • Support broader quality assurance activities, including validation of application behavior across releases and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Utilize accessibility testing tools such as JAWS, NVDA, Axe, WAVE, and Accessibility Insights.
  • Produce deliverables such as accessibility findings, audit reports, test results, and defect documentation.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to developers on accessibility standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including leads, developers, and project managers.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant mandates, policies, and guidelines.
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree and 6 years of applicable experience, or equivalent experience (e.g., Master's degree and 2 years, Associate's degree and 7 years, or 12 years of experience without a degree).

 

Experience: A minimum of one year of experience testing for 508 accessibility compliance.

 

Technical Skills: Proficient with automated testing technology such as JAWS for screen reading. Proficiency with the MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).

 

Additional Requirements: U.S. Citizenship is required. Must have the ability to obtain an Entrance on Duty (EOD) determination.

  • DHS Trusted Tester Certification.
