Business System Analyst (BA Consultant)
Job#: 3038067
Job Description:
Business Systems Analyst (BA Consultant)
Role Summary
The Business Analyst (BA Consultant) is responsible for executing end-to-end business analysis within the Connex Technology regulatory portfolio. This role requires a true hybrid BA/BSA profile — combining business discovery, stakeholder engagement, and process mapping with technical translation and requirements documentation. The BA Consultant is embedded within one of four delivery pods (AML, Tax, Small Products, or Big Products/Regulatory) and is expected to partner directly with business and technology stakeholders to drive structured discovery through to tech handoff.
Key Accountabilities
1. End-to-End Business Analysis & Requirements Delivery
- Lead and execute the full requirements lifecycle — from intake, elicitation, and discovery through to analysis, documentation, validation, and tech handoff.
- Conduct business discovery sessions with stakeholders to understand current-state processes, pain points, and desired outcomes.
- Develop and maintain high-quality Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), user stories, data requirements, and process flows.
- Translate business needs into technical requirements, acting as the bridge between business and technology teams.
- Ensure requirements are clearly articulated, traceable, testable, and aligned to business outcomes.
2. Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnership
- Act as a true partner at the table — sitting with the business to map out processes, lead discovery, and drive alignment.
- Facilitate workshops, walkthroughs, and validation sessions with business, technology, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships across pods to ensure effective communication, alignment, and adoption.
3. Requirements Governance & Quality
- Ensure all requirements documentation adheres to BMO BA CoE / CIOE standards and practices.
- Ensure requirements are reviewed, approved, and signed off by relevant stakeholders.
- Drive consistency in documentation, modeling, and validation practices within the assigned pod.
4. Agile Delivery & Execution Support
- Support delivery through user story development, backlog refinement, clear acceptance criteria, and Definition of Ready/Done.
- Work closely with Product Owners, PMs, and Technology teams to ensure alignment between requirements and delivery execution.
- Participate in sprint ceremonies and ensure BA deliverables support on-time, high-quality delivery.
5. Data, Insights & Strategic Support
- Perform data analysis, trend identification, and insight generation to support decision-making within the assigned pod.
- Ensure analytics and reporting requirements are well-defined and aligned to business KPIs.
- Provide impact analysis and business case inputs as needed.
6. Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to continuous improvement in requirements practices, tools, and delivery efficiency.
- Support and adopt AI-assisted requirements practices (e.g., automation of documentation, analysis acceleration, quality checks).
- Participate in knowledge sharing and communities of practice across the portfolio.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Business Analysis, with demonstrated hybrid BA/BSA capability (business discovery + technical translation).
- Strong expertise in requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, and validation — including BRDs, user stories, process flows, and data requirements.
- Proven ability to lead structured discovery with business stakeholders and translate outcomes into technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of Agile and SDLC methodologies, including backlog management and requirements lifecycle.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to derive actionable insights.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience delivering regulatory programs in banking (e.g., AML, KYC, Tax/FATCA, CRS, Financial Crime).
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, audit, and reporting requirements, including control design and traceability.
- Experience working across complex, multi-stream regulatory portfolios with cross-functional dependencies and strict timelines.
- BMO experience is a strong plus.
Engagement Details
- Engagement Type: Contract-to-Hire
- Pod Alignment: AML, Tax, Small Products, or Big Products/Regulatory
