Technical Program Manager
Sustainability Data Platform Migration Program Lead
Overview:
Our client is seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead cross-functional delivery of a large-scale migration initiative supporting sustainability reporting and analytics. The team owns data products used to analyze AWS data center resource utilization, including water consumption, carbon emissions, and energy usage.
The organization is migrating from a legacy data lake to a new Sustainability Data Platform built on Amazon Redshift. The migration will occur in overlapping phases beginning with Water data, followed by Carbon and Energy domains. The TPM will coordinate execution across multiple teams, manage dependencies, and ensure milestones, validation activities, and sign-offs are achieved.
This role requires strong program leadership combined with enough technical depth to effectively partner with Data Engineers and stakeholder teams.
Location: Seattle, WA (Onsite 5 days/week)
Responsibilities:
- Drive end-to-end program delivery for the Sustainability Data Platform migration.
- Coordinate migration activities across Water, Carbon, and Energy workstreams.
- Develop and maintain integrated roadmaps, milestones, and dependency tracking.
- Identify risks, blockers, and critical path items impacting delivery timelines.
- Facilitate alignment between engineering teams, domain owners, and leadership.
- Lead migration planning sessions, status reviews, and stakeholder communications.
- Ensure appropriate data validation, business sign-off, and production readiness activities occur.
- Track progress against aggressive delivery targets, particularly Water domain migration milestones.
- Partner closely with technical leads to understand transformation complexity and impacts to schedules.
- Escalate issues proactively and drive decisions needed to maintain momentum.
- Establish mechanisms for migration readiness reviews and go-live approvals.
- Monitor parallel workstreams and coordinate overlapping deliverables.
- Support prioritization as migration scope evolves and new requirements emerge.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience leading technical programs involving data platforms or analytics initiatives.
- Experience managing enterprise-scale data migration programs.
- Demonstrated success coordinating multiple engineering teams with shared dependencies.
- Strong understanding of modern data engineering concepts and SDLC practices.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
- Ability to translate technical details into executive-level communications.
- Experience managing risks, issues, timelines, and stakeholder expectations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience delivering programs within AWS environments.
- Familiarity with Amazon Redshift, AWS Glue, Airflow/MWAA, and PySpark.
- Experience supporting data warehouse modernization initiatives.
- Background in sustainability, environmental reporting, infrastructure analytics, or operational reporting.
- Experience within highly matrixed organizations.
