Job Description:
Location: Rolling Meadows, Illinois (Hybrid)
As an Equipment Engineer, you will be a part of the national In-building PMO team, interfacing with supply chain, submarket teams, enterprise sales teams, and senior leadership. You will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, and deployment of equipment within the National In-Building Organization. This role involves collaborating with RF, Construction, and Transport teams to properly engineer, order, and deploy 4G and/or 5G technologies.
- Design and implement equipment supporting In-Building and Venue projects, including but not limited to Corning, Ericsson, Samsung, and Nokia.
- Collaborate with RF, Construction, and Transport on designing and implementing the latest technologies for our 5G network rollout, while also supporting the existing 4G LTE infrastructure.
- Utilize an internal database to document all purchases, designs, and material releases related to network equipment for In-Building projects.
- Develop and maintain equipment delivery schedules for each project, and actively manage vendors to meet deliverables.
- Work with Network planning on strategic initiatives to develop future technology solutions.
- Manage capital spending on a monthly basis to align with forecasted spend and project timelines.
- Complete equipment-related milestones using engineering tools.
- Provide technical expertise on Network Elements deployed for In-Building projects.
- Utilize agile project management practices to deliver projects on time from initiation to deployment.
- Lead project update meetings for leadership and find creative ways to resolve problems.
Experience:
- 5-7 years of targeted experience.
- Prior experience as an Equipment Engineer or Construction Engineer in the wireless industry is preferred.
- In-depth experience with In-Building OEMs such as Corning, Ericsson, Samsung, Nokia, Cisco, and Fujitsu.
- Experience calculating Power and Cooling Requirements and designing rack layouts.
- Experience managing project resources and performing risk assessments and mitigation plans.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in office computer applications: Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and Access.
Professional Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task with strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to balance technical and business requirements.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- A Master's degree.
- Experience with DAS provisioning, commissioning, integration, troubleshooting, walk testing, and close-out packages.
- Experience using Confluence and JIRA software.
- iBwave Level 3 certification.
- Knowledge of agile methodologies applied to project management.
- Knowledge of LAA, CBRS, and 5G products and implementation in enterprise buildings.
- PMI, Project Management Certification.
- Experience in telecommunications, data networking, or the wireless industry.
- Experience in 5G and 4G network architecture and equipment.
- Experience in vendor management, equipment ordering, and forecasting.
- Experience reading, understanding, and commenting on construction drawings.
This is a hybrid role which includes a combination of work-from-home and assigned office days. This position requires a willingness to work flexible hours and support night or weekend work as needed.
