Billing Clerk

Job Description:
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid)
The main function of a billing clerk is to compile data, compute fees and charges, and prepare invoices for billing purposes. This role is responsible for computing company charges, itemizing statements or invoices, and processing payroll.
- Review, approve, and reconcile batch control totals with source documents to locate errors, encode correct amounts, or prepare correction records.
- Supervise the preparation of itemized statements, bills, or invoices and record amounts due for items purchased or services rendered.
- Instruct staff on reconciling and posting receipts for cash received by various departments.
- Instruct staff on performing bookkeeping work, including posting data and keeping other records concerning costs and shipments.
- Compute payroll and retirement amounts, applying knowledge of payroll deductions, actuarial tables, and other factors.
- Maintain ledgers and registers, posting charges and refunds to individual funds, and computing and verifying balances.
Education: A high school diploma or GED is required. An Associate's degree in accounting or a related financial discipline is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 8 years of financial and/or accounting experience is required.
Skills:
- Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking.
- Advanced ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
- Advanced ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to work as needed.
- Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations as related to accounting.
- Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and any other related accounting software.
- Experience with NetSuite is preferred.
