Critical Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina (On-site)

 
Role Overview

This position supports the National Data Center Department's Critical Infrastructure Operations. The role requires providing mastery skills and leadership in both electrical and mechanical disciplines within a data center environment. The individual will be accountable for complex systems and equipment issues to ensure operational integrity.

 
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in electrical and mechanical disciplines supporting the data center environment.
  • Perform advanced support, on-site installation, preventive maintenance, and repair on electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Inspect and test complex mechanical and electrical equipment, including chillers, CRAH units, pumps, fire alarms, and power circuits.
  • Ensure the successful operation of all electrical systems, such as UPS, generators, cooling plants, and distribution.
  • Maintain the successful operation of all mechanical systems, including cooling plants, HVAC distribution, monitoring, and controls.
  • Assist in planning and implementing programs for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of data control and monitoring systems.
  • Ensure all mechanical and electrical systems comply with building codes and other applicable regulations.
  • Lead the operation of all data center systems to ensure 100% uptime.
  • Undertake complex projects requiring specialized knowledge in mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Assist in the repair and replacement of mechanical devices such as valves, motors, controls, and pumps.
Required Qualifications

Experience: 6+ years of experience in the data center field.

 

Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of chillers, pumping, building controls, UPS, generators, and electrical distribution systems. The role requires electrical and mechanical engineering skills, including knowledge of codes and practices associated with the operation, repair, and maintenance of these systems, along with troubleshooting experience.

 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical licenses in electrical or mechanical fields.
  • Predictive maintenance certifications.
Work Environment

This position requires staffing the building 24/7 across all shifts. Two openings are available: one for the 2nd Shift (3:00 PM - 12:00 AM, Sunday - Thursday) and one for the 3rd Shift (11:00 PM - 8:00 AM, Sunday - Thursday). The role is fully onsite.
