Sr. Android Engineer
Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Android Engineer to help build and enhance customer-facing mobile experiences for a platform serving millions of users. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and scaling content placement and recommendation experiences within the mobile application.

This opportunity is ideal for engineers who enjoy owning features end-to-end, collaborating across disciplines, and building products at significant scale.


Location: Toronto, ON (Remote available — must be based in Canada)

Contract Length: 6 months

Pay: $40 - $50.00/HR CAD

Team: Enterprise Retail

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain native Android applications and features.
  • Build customer-facing functionality that enhances content discovery and engagement.
  • Collaborate with product, design, backend, and platform teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Integrate mobile experiences with backend services using GraphQL.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and technical design discussions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices and development workflows.
  • Support deployment and release activities within a CI/CD environment.
  • Deliver reliable, scalable, and maintainable code.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional mobile development experience.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Kotlin.
  • Experience building and maintaining native Android applications.
  • Experience working with GraphQL APIs.
  • Strong understanding of Android architecture and modern development best practices.
  • Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing applications used at large scale by millions of users.
  • Combination of startup and enterprise experience.
  • Experience with recommendation systems, content delivery, or customer engagement features.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern development tooling.
