Job Description:
Location: North Charleston, South Carolina (Onsite)
Our organization is seeking a Struct & Payload Design Engineer to join a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role involves developing, integrating, and documenting structural and interior payload system requirements. The selected candidate will engage in a statement of work that spans the product lifecycle, from customer configuration and supplier engagement to design verification and production support. You will interface with project engineering, production, program teams, and management to implement engineering solutions.
- Develop, maintain, and modify structural and interior payload system and component designs using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools.
- Provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers, and external customers.
- Perform and integrate analytical and test results to validate and verify that systems and components meet requirements.
- Manage supplier development, test, and production activities, coordinating to optimize design.
- Develop new design and analysis processes to improve development effectiveness and quality.
- Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs.
- Provide engineering support and project leadership within a production system.
- Support the design and build of aircraft interiors, including stow bins and crew areas, focusing on structural and mechanical aspects.
Education: A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with a focus on Structural, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil engineering is required. Technology degrees are not permitted for this role.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in engineering, including design, integration, and/or certification. A Master's degree may be substituted for two years of professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent.
- Experience in aerospace interiors, materials and properties, design criteria, and release processes.
- Experience in program or project management, including development and execution of schedules, financial assessments, and risk management.
- Experience leading a cross-functional team.
- Proficiency in conveying information and ideas to diverse audiences.
- A demonstrated interest in continuous personal learning and development.
- Experience within a demanding production system is beneficial.
