What does the LOB do?

The Risk Reporting team is responsible for supporting retail credit risk reporting, regulatory reporting, data validation, and system testing initiatives. The team provides reporting and analytics used by business stakeholders, executives, and regulators.

Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Data Analyst to support a high-profile enterprise system migration within the Retail Credit Risk Reporting team. The project involves transitioning from a legacy mortgage origination platform to a new FICO-based system and conducting parallel testing to ensure reporting accuracy and data integrity throughout the transition.

The successful candidate will act as the analytical bridge between reporting, data, and project teams, investigating discrepancies, tracing data lineage, validating outputs, and identifying root causes of data issues. This is a highly analytical role focused on SQL, UAT, data validation, and stakeholder collaboration—not report development or report distribution.

This opportunity offers exposure to a large-scale system integration project with significant visibility across business and technology teams.

Job Responsibilities

• Support parallel testing efforts between legacy and new mortgage origination systems.

• Validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across multiple systems and reporting layers.

• Investigate data discrepancies and perform root cause analysis to determine whether issues originate from source systems, ETL processes, data feeds, or reporting outputs.

• Review mapping documentation and data lineage artifacts to understand end-to-end data movement.

• Translate business and functional logic into SQL queries to analyze and validate data.

• Execute complex SQL queries, including window functions, to trace data sources and confirm expected results.

• Work closely with reporting, data, ETL, and project teams to resolve defects and data quality issues.

• Escalate findings to upstream project teams and participate in issue resolution discussions.

• Document testing results, analysis findings, risks, and recommendations.

• Participate in stakeholder meetings and provide insights into data inconsistencies, system behavior, and testing outcomes.

• Support UAT activities and ensure reporting outputs remain accurate throughout system migration efforts.

• Analyze impacts of system changes on risk, operational, and regulatory reporting outputs.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the migration lifecycle.

Must-Have Requirements

• 8+ years of Data Analysis, Business Analysis, Reporting Analysis, or related experience

• Advanced SQL expertise with recent hands-on experience using SQL on a daily basis

• Strong understanding of SQL window functions

• Experience performing UAT and system testing activities

• Experience analyzing data lineage, data flows, and mapping documentation

• Strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting capabilities

• Data validation and reconciliation experience across multiple systems

• General reporting and analytics experience

• Experience working with stakeholders across business and technology teams

• Strong communication and documentation skills

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

• Banking or financial services experience

Nice-to-Have Requirements

• Retail Credit Risk experience

• Mortgage or lending domain knowledge

• Regulatory reporting experience

• Cognos experience

• Business Analysis experience

• Experience supporting large-scale data migrations or system conversion initiatives

• Experience working within Risk Management environments

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

• Strong attention to detail

• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

• Strong investigative and analytical mindset

• Collaborative team player

• Adaptable and comfortable working through change

• Proactive problem solver

What Makes a Top Performer?

A top performer for this role is someone who combines advanced SQL expertise with strong data validation and investigative skills. They can independently trace issues through data lineage, understand complex mapping documentation, identify root causes quickly, and work effectively with upstream teams to resolve discrepancies.

Successful candidates are comfortable operating in ambiguity, communicating findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and driving analysis initiatives with minimal oversight. Experience supporting UAT, system migrations, and banking-related reporting environments will be highly valued.

Interview Process

1 Interview (60–90 Minutes Total)
