A major home improvement retailer upgrades their systems to SAP S4/HANA with highly qualified, niche resources provided by Apex.
SITUATION
Our client was migrating their systems from Oracle to SAP S4/HANA, and needed a partner to help supplement their workforce with contract and contract-to-hire resources. The project required highly skilled, niche SAP resources with expertise in multiple SAP modules such as Field Accounting (FI), Materials Management (MM), Group Reporting, and others. We were chosen to support the work because of our flexible delivery model and our demonstrated history providing high-level ERP and Workday resources to this client on previous engagements.
SOLUTION
Our ERP Practice Team Lead partnered closely with client stakeholders to gain a thorough understanding of the technical requirements and business strategy for the migration. As our SAP subject matter expert, our ERP Practice Team Lead thoroughly qualified client requirements, screened candidates to ensure technical aptitude, and provided guidance throughout the delivery effort to identify best-fit consultants. Onsite, resource responsibilities included:
- Configuring, testing, and documenting functionality of SAP S4
- Assisting SAP IT security subject matter experts in the planning, design, and implementation of SAP security architecture for technical, operational, and administrative activities
- Documenting SAP design and management processes, creating and updating operational guides, and monitoring existing operational guides for consistency and completeness
RESULTS
Since our support for this initiative began, we have provided 18 SAP resources that have successfully assisted our client with their migration. Because of our ability to rapidly identify the niche consultants required, we have cut our client’s traditional hiring timeline from around 90 days to one week on average. The client has been impressed with the technical acumen of our SAP consultants and as a result of our success with this team, we have expanded to support other client business verticals and teams. This project is ongoing, and we continue to be a go-to supplier for this client’s SAP needs.
