Location: Pleasanton, California (Remote)

 

Role Overview

Our organization is seeking a Product Owner to support the maintenance and enhancement of stabilized legacy systems within a large-scale modernization program. This role will focus on ensuring the stability of 1-2 legacy products until their planned retirement. The position involves close collaboration with data analysts, developers, and scrum team members to deliver on product requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Write detailed requirements in the form of user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Participate in daily standups and facilitate backlog grooming ceremonies.
  • Collaborate with developers to flush out technical details and ensure a shared understanding of requirements.
  • Define test conditions and serve as the first line of approval for new functionality before it moves to QA.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with the user community, including underwriters.
  • Support the maintenance and small enhancements of legacy applications to ensure stability.

Required Qualifications

Experience: Approximately 5 years of experience in a Product Owner or Business Analyst role. A formal Product Owner title is not required, and equivalent Business Analyst experience is acceptable.

 


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with Jira and Confluence for user story management and documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing user stories, grooming backlogs, and defining acceptance criteria.
  • Ability to navigate Excel-based tools and understand workbook-driven logic to create requirements for developers.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a SAFe Agile environment.
  • Familiarity with supporting underwriting or actuarial teams.
  • General insurance industry experience (e.g., auto, life, property) is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Databricks and Power BI.
  • Experience with vendor tools such as Optum StepWise or Simplify Health.
