Senior BI & Analytics Analyst

About the role

The Senior BI & Analytics Analyst is a hands-on technical role focused on the design and development of enterprise analytics solutions. This individual is responsible for building scalable, high-quality BI assets that enable data-driven decision-making.

This role is primarily accountable for executing against defined requirements, translating them into robust data models, reports, and dashboards.

The Senior Analyst is a development lead within the analytics delivery lifecycle, owning build quality, performance, and maintainability, while partnering with Strategic Insights and business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet defined needs.

Key Responsibilities

Analytics Development & Delivery

  • Lead the design and development of enterprise-grade dashboards, reports, and scorecards, primarily using Power BI
  • Translate approved business requirements into scalable data models, KPIs, and technical solutions
  • Own development of datasets and semantic models, ensuring accuracy, performance, and reusability
  • Deliver both standardized and ad-hoc reporting solutions based on prioritized backlog
  • Ensure all solutions align with data governance, security, and privacy standards

Data Engineering & Quality

  • Perform data validation and testing to ensure accuracy and integrity of reporting outputs
  • Troubleshoot data issues and apply root-cause analysis to resolve discrepancies
  • Optimize data models and queries for performance and scalability across platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks)
  • Maintain documentation and standards for sustainable development and knowledge transfer

Stakeholder Collaboration (Delivery-Focused)

  • Partner with Strategic Insights and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve delivery issues
  • Provide technical guidance on feasibility, trade-offs, and solution design during development
  • Support UAT and deployment, ensuring solutions meet acceptance criteria
  • Communicate development progress, risks, and dependencies clearly to stakeholders

Continuous Improvement & Enablement

  • Identify opportunities to standardize, automate, and streamline development processes
  • Contribute to improving BI development frameworks, templates, and best practices
  • Mentor junior developers and analysts on data modeling, DAX, and development standards
  • Leverage AI tools to enhance development efficiency and insight generation within governance guidelines

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in BI development or analytics engineering roles
  • Strong hands-on experience with Power BI (DAX, data modeling, performance tuning, deployment standards)
  • Advanced SQL across platforms such as Snowflake, Oracle, or Databricks
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL pipelines, and analytics architecture
  • Experience working in Agile / Scrum delivery environments
  • Strong communication skills with ability to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Experience with Power Apps and Power Automate for workflow enablement

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working within a separated intake vs. delivery model
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, or similar tools
  • Exposure to AI/ML concepts within analytics workflows
  • Experience migrating legacy reporting (e.g., SSRS) to Power BI
