Candidate Requirements
Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain 2-4 years of experience working on enterprise solutions, prior experience with enterprise productivity tools, industry experience conducting qualitative and quantitative user research, strong collaboration and partnership with PM/design/engineering teams, ownership of research projects, strong communication skills, and rigor in study design and execution.
Ideal Background of Candidates
Usability or UX researcher with 4-6 years of experience within the technology sector, including hands-on qualitative and quantitative research supporting enterprise productivity experiences. Ideal candidates have industry experience (academic-only background not accepted), strong cross-functional collaboration with PM/design/engineering, and demonstrated ownership of research projects that inform product direction and detailed experience design. Prior experience with enterprise productivity tools and AI-driven experiences is preferred.
Typical Day in the Role
Partners with Product Management and Design to design, conduct, and report on qualitative and quantitative user research supporting enterprise productivity experiences, with a focus on AI-driven workflows and improving customer usability. Responsibilities include running user interviews and usability studies, executing quantitative research (surveys, card sorting, data analysis), performing UX Health studies, identifying gaps and pain points, and communicating findings and recommendations across the product team.
• Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is to conduct user research supporting enterprise productivity experiences, with a focus on AI-driven workflows and improving customer usability.
• Key projects: This role will contribute to researching and validating early-stage AI features and user experiences through qualitative and some quantitative research.
Job Description: Usability Researcher 2
The Usability Researcher 2 will help drive human-centered strategy, shape product direction, and contribute directly to ongoing product development by integrating insights about human behaviors, attitudes, practices, and norms. This role leverages evaluative and foundational research to guide near and long-term product strategy, working closely with UX designers, product managers, engineering, and data science to ensure the most critical user needs and opportunities are addressed. The researcher will contribute to validating early-stage product features, performing UX Health studies, and communicating actionable findings across cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and analyze research, both qualitative and quantitative, to deliver insightful and actionable results
- Continuously inform a product roadmap using customer data by identifying gaps, customer pain points, and potential delighters
- Perform ongoing UX Health studies to evaluate if design-built experiences are at the appropriate level for release to engineering
- Communicate research findings in clear and compelling ways to all levels of the product team, with the ability to explain methodology, insights, and recommendations
- Land impacts broadly from customer-focused knowledge by working across engineering, design, and marketing disciplines
- Build strong collaborative relationships with peers and stakeholders
- Operate independently, embrace ambiguity, demonstrate creativity, be detail-oriented, and deliver results in a highly organized manner
- Manage independent time, task prioritization, and flexibility in a fast-paced environment
- Prepare and deliver a high-quality portfolio review presentation demonstrating strategic research experience, rationale for methodologies chosen, and communication skills

- Transitioning from design with limited user research experience
- Very limited experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (PM, design, engineering)
- Lacking experience applying structured qualitative or quantitative research methods in a professional setting

• Hard Skills Assessment Process: The assessment process will include two rounds of interviews, approximately 30 minutes each, conducted via Teams (audio only).
• Required Candidate Preparation: Candidates should have a prior project walkthrough ready, including their role, research methods, collaboration, and impact. A portfolio is preferred to support discussion (non-confidential content only).
