Job Description:


Under general direction of the MDC Controller, this position is responsible for accounting and tax matters, responsible for providing business support. Primary responsibilities of the position include : Preparing and overseeing daily activities, including the full cycle of accounting transactions, tax and legal matters; actively participating on regular payroll processes making sure tax calculations are performed accurately and all related obligations are being met; assisting and working closely with all team members, actively participating on monthly closes, tax calculations and/or audits from the IRS, social security, state tax authorities or any related; preparing detailed journal entries, account analyses, identifying process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, dashboards and identifying potential financial or accounting irregularities Reviewing travel expense reports ensuring current policy is being met.
Responsibilities:
Ensuring accurate general ledger entries, maintaining updated records, reconciling GL accounts and sub-ledgers. Contributing to the accounting and organization mission by completing related reports and analysis as needed.
Participating closely in payroll processes, organizing financial data into usable information maintaining updated and accurate accounting records. Ensuring compliance with tax obligations related to payroll.
Actively working and assisting team members to assure that the accounting department accomplishes its objectives. Summarizes current financial status by collecting information, reconciling discrepancies, and assuring monthly close are accurate and reported on time, supervising closing operations. Working closely with the various tax authorities ensuring audits are being adequately solved and on time, per tax and legal deadlines.       
Preparing detailed journal entries and analyzing financial statements, improving processes and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Reviewing travel expense reports, making sure current policy is being met, including assuring accuracy on the booking of any tax effect.

  • Experience in dealing with the full cycle of accounting transactions, including payroll, expenses and accounts payable, fixed assets, account reconciliations, preparation of financial statements, variance analysis, etc.
  • Solid knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, laws, and regulations.
  • Possess well-developed interpersonal and communication, verbal, and written skills.
  • Organize tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong ability to interpret data and take appropriate action.
  • Hands-on experience with financial and statistical software.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Superior ability to tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing requirements and processes.
  • Problem-solving skills, including initiative, energy, and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to analyze/interpret data, keen attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Positive attitude and flexibility to accept frequent changes in priorities and possess the ability to perform tasks under critical time demands.

EDUCATION:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
  • Intermediate-Advanced English level.

EXPERIENCE:
 
  • 6-10 years’ experience in accounting and proven experience leading teams.
  • Preferred candidates will have experience in a finance/accounting role working for a multi-national company and/or with experience in a big four audit firm.
  • Experience with Contpaq and ERP systems is highly desirable.
