Apex has an exciting opportunity for a Lab Analyst in the Houston, TX area

Lab Analyst

Reporting to the Senior Analyst or Laboratory Supervisor, the Laboratory Analyst will perform analysis of samples, using experience and specialist knowledge of a range of analytical chemistry techniques to maintain the smooth running of the laboratory and meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for working as part of a small team to ensure analysis is performed accurately and to a high standard prior to data release to the client.
  • Work in accordance with company Health and Safety procedures to ensure laboratory operations are conducted in a safe manner.
  • Work according to the relevant laboratory quality standard to ensure analysis is performed in line with the most recent procedure, analytical method or work instruction.
  • To take on any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
  • Liaise with Senior Analyst to ensure client requirements are understood and met in full and to required timescale
  • To perform preventative maintenance checks on Laboratory Equipment (predominantly GCMS) to ensure continuity of analytical service

Are you the ideal candidate?

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry (essential)

•    Working knowledge of Gas Chromatography

•    Knowledge of GCMS or LCMS an advantage.

•    Broad general background knowledge of a range of Analytical Chemistry techniques.

•    Safety conscious attitude

•    Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook)
