IT Business Application Analyst II (Epic Grand Central) 

The position is visible to the hospital’s business service lines, and serves as a liaison between IT and those groups.  This position is responsible for independently providing application(s) configuration support to enhance department’s operational efficiencies/ workflow needs.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Supports major enterprise applications and others as assigned.
  • Facilitates design of business workflow in conjunction with the business units; workflows will focus on improving efficiencies, solving complex workflow issues and incorporating quality initiatives.
  • Performs needs assessment, software design, implementation, support, and reporting.
  • Coordinates and participates in unit and integrated testing activities of the software to ensure that the design objectives are met.
  • Identifies testing scenarios and develops test scripts
  • Develops understanding of departments’ business processes.
  • Identifies and analyzes moderately complex issues and brings problem to resolution.
  • Participates in workflow and business process discussions.
  • Maintains system security for assigned applications.
  • Provides direction to junior team members.
  • Leads components of development of end-user training materials and participates in training efforts.
  • Assists other team members in ensuring high documentation standards
  • Leads escalation of issues with appropriate internal resources
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures in collaboration with the business unit, other team members, and IT management team.
  • Independently manages components of application upgrades, testing, troubleshooting, and support efforts
  • Supports/troubleshoots inbound/outbound interfaces as appropriate.
  • Creates reports as needed and works problem tickets.
  • Creates and maintains appropriate system documentation
  • Collaborates with other application and clinical analysts to ensure system integrations.
  • Performs call rotation duties as required.
  • Participates in change management activities to support successful system deployments and enhancements.
  • Utilizes and maintains appropriate change control procedures and standards.
  • Creates reports, dashboards, and other analytical tools to support customer base
  • Designs business workflows in conjunction with the business departments; workflows will focus on improved efficiencies, as well as incorporating quality initiatives.
  • Performs data collection from business subject matter experts to facilitate design which will represent an improved business workflow.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Minimum 3 years of IT experience supporting applications is required.
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized, with good analytical and problem solving ability. 
  • Notable client service, communication, presentation and relationship building skills required. 
  • Ability to function independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment required. 
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use PCs, Microsoft Office suite, and general office equipment (i.e. printers, copy machine, FAX machine, etc.) required.
  • Knowledge of SQL databases required.
  • Knowledge of LAN, DNS, and networking required.
  • Ability to work with servers and apply software upgrades required.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery and backup procedures required.
  • Project management experience/skills preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is highly desired.
  • Business workflow redesign experience a plus.

Must have experience working with business or healthcare applications such as:

  • Inpatient systems
  • Hospital patient flow systems
  • Data Warehousing
  • SQL Server/SSIS
  • Enterprise Scanning and workflow management Applications
  • Bed Management Applications
  • Finance Applications

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.

Credentials, Licensure or Certification (i.e. RN, RRT):
