An energy supply and trading company enhances its customer experience with a modernized dashboard solution.
Our client, the commercial and midstream division of a Fortune 500 Energy company focuses on gathering, processing, transportation, storage and logistics, and trading and marketing of natural gas. The client had legacy systems and processes that were inefficient and impacted their ability to make quick data-driven decisions.
The client relied heavily on manual processes and spreadsheets located on many disparate systems and SharePoint files. The business was frustrated by the time-consuming process to access critical operations data needed to run the business in areas such as gas scheduling, availabilities and forecasting, nominations and allocations, fuels and rates, and transportation invoicing. There were many inefficiencies in their operations that needed to be addressed to limit mistakes, drive efficiencies, and accelerate real-time decision-making.
Enhanced customer experience enabled faster decision-making
Our client wished to enhance their existing customer portal application and integrate data from the Endur ETRM Gas Pipeline Scheduling system and build an easy-to-use customer dashboard, replacing all the manual spreadsheets being used daily by traders and schedulers. The solution leveraged WPF framework (.NET), jQuery, KendoUI, Infragistics ,and Bootstrap. The dashboard solution incorporated UI/UX design best practices and enabled traders to analyze trades, understand risk parameters, and provide greater insight into hedging analytics.
Apex delivered an enhanced software solution that replaced outdated spreadsheets, and ensures ease of use, engagement and user satisfaction. The dashboard solution enables the traders and schedulers to become more agile by streamlining access to information and improves the quality of information by providing access to more timely and relevant data related to physical commodities and financial markets. This solution accelerates the speed of decision-making and helps natural gas traders and schedulers better navigate the dynamic nature of global energy trading markets.
