Job Description:

Apex Systems is hiring a fully remote Pharmacy Services Specialist for our well-respected client in Washington State. If you have at least 3 years of Pharmacy Technician experience and have worked with prior authorizations, we welcome your application!

Position: Pharmacy Services Specialist
Location: Fully remote, must sit in Washington State, USA
Pay: $20-$24/hr. depending on relevant experience
Duration: 6-12 month contract

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the Pharmacy Prior Authorization Program by:
  • Performing level I review for Prior Authorization exception requests according to clinical criteria.
  • Collecting relevant medical and prescription information to support the review of non-formulary exception requests and prior authorization requests.
  • Setting up authorizations and initiating appropriate paperwork and notification process.
  • Documenting exception requests status and outcomes in all relevant systems.
  • Determining customer eligibility, verifying and interpreting pharmacy benefits as required.
  • Requesting and reviewing necessary medical records for level II reviews, sending requests with documentation and recommendations to the Assistant Medical Directors for final review.
  • Contribute to team efficiency by providing support to fellow team members.
  • Maintain knowledge of Premera health plan policies and benefits, current treatment procedures and alternative resources.
  • Serve as a resource for other departments for pharmacy program questions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Current and valid State Pharmacy Technician License.
2. At least 3 years experience as a Pharmacy Technician.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience in customer service with both internal and external customers.
2. Completion of pharmacy technician training from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Understanding of managed care pharmacy operations.
2. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.
3. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences both verbally and in writing.
4. Ability to schedule time effectively to meet deadlines and work with minimum supervision.
5. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff, customers, physicians, nurses and providers.
6. Understanding of Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
