Job Description:

SENIOR or PRINCIPAL ENGINEER
As a Senior Engineer, lead the technical development of projects or specific energy conservation measures for large complex projects. Collaborate and interact with customers as well as Design Engineers, Construction Managers and Measurement and Verification (M&V) engineers.
Possess a strong technical background with excellent communication and technical writing skills.
Key Responsibilities
Support the technical team during all phases of project development including overall responsibility in conducting energy audits, ECM scope development, energy savings calculations, and developing cost estimates for state, federal, commercial and institutional customers. Lead the engineering team to improve work processes and procedures.
Conduct Preliminary and Investment Grade (ASHRAE Level 2 and 3) energy audits, site investigations, energy savings calculations and develop cost estimates to Identify and quantify energy saving opportunities associated with a variety of technologies and solutions.
Identify key customer interests, needs and drivers.
Coordinate and schedule site visits with customers and vendor personnel.
Complete energy calculations using whole-building modeling and spreadsheet analysis methods to calculate energy saving ECM upgrades including HVAC, boilers, building controls and water conservation.
Analyze utility bill data to determine customer energy saving parameters and project viability.
Analyze customer operational costs to develop operational savings models associated with proposed technical solutions. Write detailed Energy Conservation Measure descriptions to be included in proposal submissions as well as scopes of work for contractor pricing and implementation.
Develop preliminary design drawings and parameters independently or in collaboration with consulting engineering support to produce designs and specifications for contractor bid and permit documents.
Support technical discussions of scope, savings, and M&V methods during IGA development, customer, sales  and management review meetings.
Review and approve project submittals during construction.
Support the development of measurement and verification plans with M&V team.
Mentor and support training of lower-level engineering staff.
Work cross functionally with Sales, Design Engineers, Construction Managers, Operations and Maintenance Measurement and Verification (M&V) during the project lifecycle and support functional improvements.
Travel to customer sites as needed for audits, meetings and presentations.
Required Qualifications
8+ years’ experience working as an HVAC mechanical consulting engineer or energy engineer.
Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
Licensed Florida P.E.
Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
Demonstrated experience using building energy modeling software, preferably Trane Trace 700.
                   
Strong organizational, technical writing and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail
Proficiency in MS Office including Word, and Excel
            
Eligible to obtain federal security clearance.
Prioritize tasks to ensure that the teams efforts overall are effective and that project deadlines are met.
Ability to independently plan, prioritize and manage multiple projects.
     Preferred Qualifications
Have a thorough understanding of technical solutions and development processes for ESPC and UESC contracts and federal customer expectations.
Demonstrated collaboration skills and working within a team environment. Proven track record developing technical solutions and projects.
Experience in assembling project pricing and understanding of cashflows.
Experience in building commissioning and or Building Commissioning Professional certification.
Experience with Trane Trace 3D Plus.
Proficiency in AutoCAD.
Advanced technical abilities to understand and analyze a wide variety of technical solutions and business opportunities.
