A worldwide automotive leader migrates CRM to Salesforce Lightning to improve user experience and productivity.

SITUATION

Our client was utilizing Salesforce Classic for their Sales and Operations teams and needed to migrate their CRM application from Salesforce Classic components to Salesforce Lightning in order to improve user experience and increase end user productivity. Our client wanted to build test automation for all the scenarios and user stories that we were migrating over for their Sales and Operations experiences in the Salesforce CRM app. This would make their QA process more efficient with the goal of validating the functionality of software and ensuring it meets requirements before being released into production.

SOLUTION

Apex deployed a team of 13 consultants, including a project manager, a technical lead, a solution lead, Salesforce developers, and QA engineers. They performed design, development, and testing activities including coding and configuration, unit and QA testing, enabling of profiles and permission sets, code promotion, and bug/defect resolution. Our consultants utilized the client's Scrum methodology and tools (Rally) and participated in Scrum ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning meetings, sprint reviews, and demos. We provided engagement management and progress reporting on key accomplishments, issues and risks, resource management, and schedule and financial performance. Our team developed automated tests using Playwright and Java and completed a high-level assessment of the automated testing framework before migrating the client's Salesforce components into Lightning.

RESULTS

Our team enabled the client's teams to rapidly build and launch new apps and services with drag and drop components on a more intuitive user interface rather than code development, which dramatically increased productivity. Through our work, we were able to provide the client with improved analytics, information security, third-party integrations, and automation. Salesforce Lightning allows alignment with Salesforce Classic features, updates, security and support; while reducing the risk of being unable to implement new Salesforce modules.
